Well, not only can we say we were to Beijing for the first time, but also probably to the North Pole as our flight route took us over the top of the world! Bumpy flights, both of them. But we were on time.
Thursday, we crashed almost as soon as we hit the hotel. Eleven hours later (5:30am Beijing time) we woke up and prepared to climb the Great Wall. Of course, we picked the foggiest, rainiest day at the wall in 4 months, as the pictures will indicate.
Still, back in Beijing after seeing the Wall, we had a blast. The rickshaw ride through the Hutong neighborhood was not for the faint of heart. In fact, April's cab ride out of Central Park in NY was positively safe by comparison. It was such a blast. You'll see pictures in the next post.
We also drove by and saw, through our rain soaked bus windows, some of the Olympics related buildings, including the Bird's Nest, which will be well recognized by the end of September next year by most people of the world as the location of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics.
Look for pictures in future posts.
Please keep us in your prayers. Tomorrow we get Nathanael.
Blessings,
Dan and Jennifer
